Attaching Sheetrock

When you attach the sheet-rock, you attach it horizontally or vertically? Some article floor to ceiling height is 8′, and wall pillars are spaced 16″, so it will work in any case, just curious, if I am to them horizontally (one top, one below) or vertically?

Wood flooring vs. tile

I am finishing my low level and are planning to put in wood or tile flooring. Concrete, does it make any difference in decided, the type of flooring to go with?
